How The Contest Works

Piano students will be submitting a short video of themselves playing their most creative, skillful or favourite piano piece, using the hashtag #iwantmyroland, and will go up against other students to impress our esteemed judges (entry submission tutorial below). The competition will be divided into two age groups with a winner selected from each:

Primary School: Players up to the age of 13 years
High School: Players between the ages of 14 and 18 years

Entries will be open from 15 April until 27 May with only 5(five) finalists being selected from each age group. All finalists will be invited to the Final Round Gala at the Atterbury Theatre in Pretoria where they will perform their chosen musical piece LIVE to a theatre audience and the esteemed judges on the 6th of June.

Finalists can play any piece of music they’d like to for the Final Round performance with a maximum time limit of 5 minutes. The judges will announce the winning students and their schools on the night. For the Piano competition terms and conditions, please click here. Instructions for submitting an entry are below.
